RESTRICTIONS PER ZONE
In this constantly updated section, you will find the areas at risk in Italy, sorted by color (red, orange, yellow and white zones,) as well as the key restrictive measures set forth by the last ministerial decrees.

WHITE ZONES

YELLOW ZONES

ORANGE ZONES
Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardia, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Piemonte, Sicilia, Toscana, Umbria e Veneto e alle Province autonome di Bolzano e Trento

RED ZONES
Campania, Puglia, Sardegna e Valle d’Aosta

YELLOW ZONES

  • No movement is allowed from 10 pm to 5 am the following morning. The exceptions are work, health and survival needs. It is strongly advised not to move except for work, study, health and situations dictated by need.
  • All shopping centers and malls will be closed on weekends and holidays with the exception of the drugstores, over-the-counter drugs and personal hygiene markets, supermarkets, smoke shops and newsstands located inside them.
  • All museums and exhibitions will be closed.
  • Distance learning will be used in all upper schools, students with disabilities are exempted as well as lab time. Attendance will continue in kindergartens, grade and middle schools. Universities are closed with the exception of some activities aimed at the freshmen class and lab time.
  • Public transportation’s passengers capacity will be reduced to 50%, with the exception of school buses.
  • Arcades, bingo. slot machine and betting parlors will suspend all activities, even if they are located in coffeeshops or smoke shops.
  • Coffee shops and restaurants will close at 6 pm. Take-away service is allowed till 10 pm. There are no restrictions placed on home deliveries.
  • Pools, gyms, theaters and movie houses remain close. Sports facilities remain open.

ORANGE ZONES

  • No movement is allowed from 10 pm to 5 am the following morning. The exception are work, health and survival needs.
  • Movements between Regions and between municipalities is not allowed with the exception of demonstrable reasons dictated by work, health and survival needs.
    It is advised not to move within one’s municipality during the day.
  • Restaurants and coffee shops will be closed at all times. Take away service is allowed till 10 pm. There are no restrictions on home deliveries.
  • All shopping centers and malls will be closed on weekends and holidays with the exception of drugstores, over-the-counter drugs and personal hygene markets, supermarkets, smoke shops and newstands that are located inside them.

RED ZONES

  • Movements are not allowed at any time even within one’s municipality, with the exception of demonstrable reasons due to work, health and survival needs. Movements between Regions and between municipalities are not allowed.
  • Restaurants and coffee shops will be closed at all times. Take away service is allowed till 10 pm. There are no restrictions on home deliveries.
  • All shops will be closed with the exception of supermarkets, dry goods and commodity stores.
  • Newspaper stands, smoke shops, pharmacies and over-the-counter drugs and personal hygiene markets, laundries, barbershops and hairdressers will remain open.
  • Beauty centers will be closed.
  • Upper schools and second and third year secondary schools will employ distance learning.
    Only kindergartens, elementary schools and the first year of middle schools will remain open. All universities will be closed, with the exception of certain specific cases.
  • All sport competitions are suspended with the exception of those that are deemed of national importance by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP). All activities in athletic facilities are suspended. Individual physical training such as jogging can be done near one’s residence and outdoor individual sports.
  • All museums and exhibitions will be closed as well as theaters, cinemas, gyms, arcades, betting and bingo parlors, no matter where they are located.
    Public transportation’s passengers capacity will be reduced to 50%, with the exception of school buses.
YELLOW ZONES

Must movements be justified? Is a self-certification necessary?
A self-certification is not necessary from 5 am to 10 pm. From 10 pm to 5 am the next morning; it’s always necessary to show that one’s movements fall into the categories allowed.

Can I go to help a relative or a friend who is not self-sufficient?
Yes, it falls under survival needs, and no time limitation applies. From 10 pm to 5 am the next morning, a self-certification is always necessary.

I am separated/divorced, can I go visit my underage children?
Yes, you are allowed to go visit your underage children who reside with another parent or with a guardian. You are also allowed to move your children to your residence, even if they live in a different municipality.

Can I to go to church or to any other place of worship?
Yes, but only from 5 am to 10 pm.

If one lives in a municipality and works in another, can one go ‘back and forth’?
Yes.

Those who finds themselves away from their residence, domicile or home, can they return to it?
Yes.

ORANGE ZONES

Must movements be justified? Is a self-certification necessary?
From 5 am to 10 pm movements don’t have to justified, if they are limited to your municipality. To travel to other municipalities, and during the period from 10 pm to 5 am in your municipality of residence, you must prove that they fall within the grounds allowed by means of a written self-certification to be compiled in the forms that the local and state police have in their possession. 

Can one go to help a relative or a friend who is not self-sufficient?
Yes, it falls under the category of survival needs, and no time limitation applies.

I am separated/divorced, can I go visit my underage children?
Yes, you are allowed to go visit your underage children who reside with another parent or with a guardian. You are also allowed to move your children to your residence, even if they live in a different municipality.

Can I to go to church or to any other place of worship?
Yes, but only from 5 am to 10 pm. The same rules as the Red Zone apply to the time period from 10 pm to 5 am.

If one lives in a municipality and works in another, can one go ‘back and forth’?
In this instance if one is unable to work at home, moving is warranted by the necessity to work.

Those who finds themselves away from their residence, domicile or home, can they return to it?
Yes, you will be able to return to your residence only once. After the initial time, moves will be allowed only for the following reasons: job requirements, survival needs, study or health, or to avail yourself of services not found in one’s municipality (ex: To go to the post office or to shop for necessities, if those services are not available where one resides.)

You must be able to prove that your move falls within the grounds allowed by means of a written self-certification to be compiled in the forms that the local and state police have in their possession.

Yes, you are allowed to go visit your underage children who reside with another parent or with a guardian. You are also allowed to move your children to your residence, even if they live in a different municipality.

Can I to go to church or to any other place of worship?
It’s allowed to go to a place of worship nearest your home; movement must be limited to the immediate vicinity of your domicile. Access to places of worship is allowed provided that gatherings are avoided, and that interpersonal safety distance of at least one meter is maintained. Those times that you move for work or survival needs, you can go to a place of worship that is along the route. Religious services attendance is allowed.

If one lives in a municipality and works in another, can one go ‘back and forth’?
In this instance if one is unable to work at home, moving is warranted by the necessity to work.
