“Servizio Civile Universale”: call for Italian and foreign young people

Until the 10th of February there is time to apply for the “Servizio Civile Universale”: an opportunity for young people aged between 18 and 28 to devote a year to a social involvement in assistance, civil protection, environment, protection of artistic and cultural heritage and cultural education.

“Servizio Civile Universale” offers the possibility for young people to dedicate a year of their life to a solidarity project, understood as a commitment to the good of the community and of each individual, as a value of social cohesion.

The young volunteer dedicates a year to carrying out services and activities in the public interest; he/she acquires professional skills, teamwork, interpersonal skills or specific skills related to the field in which he/she has been placed. In addition, it can be a possibility for job placement.

Requirements to apply

  • Italian or EU citizenship, or non-EU foreigners who are resident in Italy;
  • age: between 18 and 28 years at the date of application;
  • not have been convicted of any criminal offence.

Please note: in some projects, there are reserved places for young people with reduced opportunities (disabilities, low education, economic difficulties, care leavers and young people with temporary personal and social fragility).

Duration: 8/12 months, approximately 25 hours per week

Compensation: volunteers receive a financial reimbursement of EUR 444.30 per month (net)

Rome: apply to “KNOW YOUR RIGHTS” course!

A legal education program for asylum seekers, stateless persons, refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, temporary protection or other forms of protection with the aim of supporting them in the process of integration in Italy. It is a project implemented by Unhcr in collaboration with the DLA Piper law firm and it is entirely free!

REUNITE A FAMILY

Subject to having received authorization ( “Nulla Osta”) by the Immigration Office

– If you are a resident in UGANDA, to hand in the visa request at the Agenzia
Visti VIS it’s necessary to schedule an appointment via the link: prenotamiesteri.

– If you reside in RWANDA and BURUNDI, the appointment must be
scheduled at the Ambasciata del Belgio (Belgian Embassy,) in Rwanda and the Ambasciata del Belgio (Belgian Embassy,) in Burundi.
– To receive information, write directly to the Italian embassy at: kampala.visti@esteri.it
– Once you have an appointment, the individuals who requested it must confirm it starting on the 10th day up
to the 3rd day prior to the date set. If the appointment isn’t confirmed, the system
will automatically cancel it from the Embassy’s agenda. 

– Entry visa request (Form D)
– Recent passport size photo
– Valid passport with an expiration date of at least 3 months beyond that of the visa requested
– Authorization issued by the proper Immigration Office within the last six months
– If minors should be involved, the other parent must give his/her written consent to the visa

  • Passport’s expiration date must be 18 months beyond the date of planned visit, and must have two empty pages
  • A color copy of passport page with owner’s info
  • Non-Nigerian citizens who reside in Nigeria must include a copy of the residence permit.

5. Return to Visa Office to pick up passport. If you choose to have it delivered to a selected address, please purchase the Express Courier Return

  • Copy of “FAMILY REUNION ENTRY CLEARANCE” issued within the last six months by the competent Unified Immigration Desk (sportello unico.) It is strongly advised to check that the info provided is the same in all paperwork.
  • Copy of National Identity Card of relative residing in Italy;
  • Copy of relative residing in Italy’s Residence Permit.

The following documents must be notarized by the Nigerian Foreign Ministry in Abuja and translated in Italian and notarized by the Italian General Council in Lagos prior to the petition for a visa:

  • Marriage Certificate
  • Birth Certificate if d.o.b. is after 12/14/1992.

Birth Affidavit from the National Population Commission if born after 12/14/1992. This affidavit must be accompanied by an age declaration sworn before a Federal Court by one or both parents. If perchance they are deceased, the declaration must be made by an older brother or sister, or the eldest surviving member of the family. It is also necessary to attach a copy of the petitioner and recipient’s passport, and a copy of the National Identity Card or valid Passport (page that contains personal info,) of the petitioner.

  • Birth Certificate issued by Nigeria Civil Registration at the Ministry of Interior:
  • Permission to leave Nigeria given by the biological mother or father who still resides in the country, via an affidavit sworn in front of a Nigerian federal court. Attach a copy of the child’s passport and that of the parent granting permission, in addition to a copy of the parent’s National Identity Card or valid passport (only page with personal information,)

  • Death Certificate if parent residing in Nigeria is deceased

Child Custody Declaration in favor of the parent residing in Italy issued by a federal court.

  • Birth Certificate issued by the National Population Commission. This certificate must be accompanied by an Age Affidavit, sworn by an older brother or sister in Federal Court, or by the eldest member of the family. The sworn affidavit has to be accompanied by a copy of the passport of the petitioner and recipient, in addition to a copy of the National Identity Card or valid passport (page with personal info,) of the petitioner;
  • “Family Composition” Affidavit sworn in front of a Court. It must include the full list of all family members. A copy of petitioner’s passport must be attached to the sworn affidavit;
  • Verifiable proof of petitioner’s financial dependency on one’s child in Italy for the last 5 years. 
  • Should the parent be over 65 years old, a declaration to underwrite an insurance policy or, as an alternative, of being a member of the National Health Service.
